MAP - monoammonium phosphate
MAP, an important phosphate fertilizer for many years, is completely water-soluble and generally is applied in granular form. It is commonly used in the formulation of suspension fertilizers. It is a granular material and mixes well with other fertilizers. It frequently serves as an ingredient in bulk blended fertilizers. With its low pH levels, MAP is best used for high alkaline soils. It is an ideal starter fertilizer since it does not break down into ammonia that damages seeds and young growth. "A product composed of ammonium phosphates, principally monoammonium phosphate, resulting from the ammoniation of orthosphosphoric acid. The guaranteed percentage of nitrogen and available phosphate shall be stated as part of the name." (AAPFCO)
