Some Purdue University students could showcase the university's work in insect science simply as they drive a U-Haul truck from their home to campus or an apartment in time for the fall semester.
Purdue Extension exhibits that cover an array of topics such as climate change and social networking will be featured in the Pioneer Our Land Pavilion at the Indiana State Fair on Aug. 6-22.
A new graduate degree program in technical systems management (TSM) will be offered by the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at the University of Illinois beginning in August 2011.
The nation's beef herd continues to decline.
"After several years of financial difficulty, producers show no interest in rebuilding the herd," said Purdue University Extension economist Chris Hurt. "As a result, beef supplies will continue to decline and prices will remain strong for several years to come. On the down side, however, beef consumption per person will lag and other animal species will gain a larger market share in coming years, especially chicken."
The Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA), Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association, and Michigan Farm Bureau today applauded Romence Gardens, the last farm within the Grand Rapids city limits, for demonstrating environmental responsibility and joining an elite group of Michigan greenhouses to become verified by the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP).
